Risograph Zine‘Home’ felt like a plant migration, personally. Its life starts from a seed, grows into a plant, blooms flowers, is relocated by nature, and starts a brand new cycle on repeat. It felt right to encapsulate how I viewed home, my relationship with my sibling, and my parents through the narrative of dandelions. Blown by the wind like a dandelion, I started my adulthood in New York City, with my sibling in Los Angeles, while my parents stayed behind in Singapore. I wrote about vivid memories of childhood and my experience seeing my sibling leave for another country while I waited for my turn to come. I am still in the midst of figuring it all out and testing out the soil.
I view the cultivation of memories as what triggers each plant migration. The collection of new memories signifies the fulfillment of a stage in the cycle of plant migration. My eagerness to experience is what drives my plant migration cycle.
